June 2011

Well, where to begin, when things are so far behind !! Our Hacks have recently been doing us proud, headed by the wonderful mare CS Primadonna, owned by Courtney Smith NSW, She has had a wonderful few months, with Canberra and Sydney Royals. Sydney she was awarded the Best Novice Saddle Horse Exhibit which was a great thrill for all and very exciting! The mare also made Top Ten at the Grand Nationals.

Another GN Success for us was the fantastic Effort of Liza Micheljohn & the little chestnut horse Rialto. Liza made top ten in her rider, which is a credit to her, as Rialto is still a young horse off the track. The pair then proceeded to Sydney Royal, where Liza was 2nd in her Novice Rider class, then on to Bathurst Royal, where she was Champion Lady Rider, so again she has qualified for Grand Nationals 2012, We are thrilled for Liza & of course, Rialto.

Liza's cousin Jaimee Dutton also purchased recently from us, the lovely mare Charlotte, and all news and updates from Jaimee have been very pleasing, so we look forward to their news & updates in the future.

All in all we had several GN Qualifiers, four hacks and three riders, incl, Perfect By Nature, and LP Superstar and Vader. These three qualifying but not making the trek to Sydney, hopefully, next year may see them there.

The huge big gelding, Xaarmabeel & Troy Wilson, also had success at Sydney Royal, with a placing in the Novice hack over 16.2hh. Troy was 2nd in his Rider Class, well done.

News from Hughenden, in Qld from Leanne Rogers, and the very sweet little horse Wonderland, is always a delight. Wonderland has certainly settled into his new home, and doing what he is supposed to, providing Leanne with an awful lot of pleasure.

We have also been represented in NZ by the Lovely Ace Card of Sefton, who is By resident Sire Dresden Ace of Spades out of a TB Mare by Snadee, He has been Runner up Led Youngstock of the year at both the Nationals and HOTY in NZ, this lovely yearling appears to have a very bright future for us over there & his new owner Cara Norling.

It was also a thrill to have another homebred colt win the Championship at Barastoc, for the inaugural Park Hacks, an excellent result for Karen Shaw and Family from QLD and the wonderful Xempify Of Sefton a multiple HOTY winner for them.

The lovely big Bay LP Superstar has continued in winning form in WA for Caris & Britt Reside with Reserve Champion Novice Saddle horse at Perth Royal and a GN Qualifier as well.

Some lovely young horses have headed to new homes of late, so I really look forward to how they are getting on, and their news, in the not to distant future.

I am sure with the news page being so far behind, that I have forgotten plenty! Certainly I have learnt a lesson from it....

June 2010

Well a few lovely horses have made their way to new homes lately. Harper has gone to Beaconsfield in Vic. to Deb Bradley, I look forward to news from this couple in the future.

Bliss who didn't even get as far as the Website has gone to Leanne Rogers in Hughenden in QLD. Leanne like me is an early person and it was great to get a call from her the other morning telling me Bliss had just gone to his second show, and got Supreme Led exhibit. Leanne was thrilled as this was her first ever Supreme award & Bliss has only been there a few weeks.Well done to them Both.

News from the Woodland Family that Northwood Opulence was Runner Led Newcomer HOTY at Lismore recently, also top 5 Ridden Newcomer, was a great result, they are very pleased with her, saying she is very honest and requires very little work, she will be a future hack for there Daughter Corley, when she moves on from her current Galloway.

LP Superstar in WA, continues to be a huge success, He was Recently awarded Grand Champion Ridden Exhibit, at their recent TB HOTY, over seasoned and more experienced horses a huge feat. But it was EWA Newcomer HOTY, that really got team WA on the champers! Britt rode their home bred pony Leeara Park Royal Petite to Newcomer Pony of the year, both her Sire & Dam came from me, so I was equally delighted, and she has also recently won SHC Newcomer Pony of the year & Qualified for the Grand Nationals on that day as well! what a stellar start for her. So they then thought it would be too good to be true if LP Superstar could also win Newcomer saddle horse on the same day, but it all happened as this Starry big elegant horse stepped into the ring and worked like a legend. So to both Caris and Britt a huge congratulations, the pair work tirelessly together to achieve the most amazing results, along with their great friend Mel, A great day and a great achievement Well Done to All!

March 2010

Well the news page certainly has not been getting the attention it deserves! over the last couple of months we have had some great results, with some very talented off the trackers making their saddle Debuts, Xaarmabeel going Champion hack at his first outing with young Troy Wilson of Bega in NSW, this gentle giant of a horse 17.1hh putting up a very professional performace at his first attempt. Congratulations to troy on his recent Champion Rider win at Canberra as well.

The outstanding young horse in WA "LP Superstar" continues on from his Led Royal Championship in Sept, taking all before him in the saddle horse stakes as well, he also went Champion at his saddle debut and has now since collected his first rug and a Supreme Ridden Exhibit, beautifully prepared as always by Brittany & Caris Reside.

Congratulations also to Steph Barrington and Vader taking out SHC Large Hunter Hack of the year recently at Werribee park, what a wonderful show horse he is.

The beautiful mare Sassy now known as "CS Primadonna" also making a brilliant Saddle debut in Sydney with her young Rider Courtney Smith, taking out Supreme Champion Novice Ridden exhibit as well as Champion Hack, she has since gone on to win her first Royal Broad Sash with Reserve Champion Led ANSA Exhibit at Canberra Royal I am sure there are many more wins at top level for her and Courtney.

Coronation Queen came up trumps with a sensational win at Barastoc taking out the Small Hunter hack of the year tittle, this was a very satisfying win and it was great to see the mare, a winner of 6 races, who made her showing and pony club debuts earlier this season as a 9yo, come out on top, with the Sashes Garlands and AccoladesWell done to young Maddison Demmler for her education and preperation of the Queen.

I am sure that there are a few more Newcomer tittles in the not to distant future, and results like these certainly spur you on to finding the next Champion. well done to all connections of the above mentioned horses.I am as always very proud of the results.

Have had some lovely horses go on to their new homes recently, Lady has gone to Sydney, Roman has made a new home with Eliza Mickeljohn in Cowra NSW, Matilda has taken up residence in Victoria, along with stella who has gone to Portland, looking forward to there news in the future.

September/October 2009

Well the News this month is all about some great results in the show ring! The Trek to WA was most enjoyable with some fantastic results, the very beautiful Falvelon Gelding LP Superstar, at only his third outing, contested a strong Line up of Led Thoroughbreds to Win Champion Led Gelding, With Flirting Reserve Champion, this was a very exciting win as not only is it a flying start to this young horses career, but also Back to Back wins at Perth Royal for Horse Select with Perfect By Nature taking out the championship last year.

Striking once again gave a wonderful performance for Brittany Reside taking out the Novice Saddle horse Class 15 to 15.2hh. Striking has done a wonderful job for Britt as her rider class mount he has carried her to qualify 5 times to compete at the Nationals & Grand Nationals in her rider class. Striking also gave my good friend Maddie Demmlar a lovely ride, carrying her to achieve 2nd in her rider class (15 to 17 yrs) Maddie rode beautifully and together they created a lovely picture.

Always nice to spend time with the Resides and this occasion was no exception plenty of things to catch up on, but a typical Royal show with the hit the ground running thing happening every morning! Coming home was great though with this seasons new foals being born and plenty of work as usual - no rest for the wicked! There are some lovely galloway & small hack foals this year so please have a look at our stud website www.seftonponies.com.au

More great news was to follow with RS Inspire going Runner Intermediate HOTY SHCQ & Also our Wonderful Xemplify of Sefton Winning his 3rd Led HOTY year title in 12 mths there as well, what a great Year for Karen Shaw and her family, really well done.

News from Vic included Bold Verdict's debut for the Bould Family with Reserve Champion at his first outing & reports that he was settled and enjoyed the day & worked well was great, hopefully more news to come from there soon. Maddison Demmler has also been enjoying some great success with the recent debut of the Hunter Hack mare Coronation Queen, the Queen has now been out three times with a win on each occasion and it was really pleasing to see her win Supreme Ridden Hunter at our local Show at Euroa. So all in all the Horse Select crew are doing fantastically! well done to all, as there are plenty of hard yards done to get them all there.

August/September 2009

We have had a busy month or so with some lovely horses going to their new homes!
Cupid, the stunning black horse with the amazing heart shaped star on his head, has taken up residence in WA with Sandra Liddle. It's such a gruelling trek over to WA that one always seems worried until news of their safe arrival, but arrived safely he has and we wish them well in the future and i'm sure Cupid will capture a lot of attention when he steps out.

Sassy has been sold to NSW to the Smith family and I am sure this beautiful and talented mare will make an excellent Newcomer in the near future, and as always look forward to news and updates of their progress.

The big moving, flashy son of Delago Brom, "JD" has made a new home in Narre Warren VIC. He has been purchased as a potential event horse by Toni Shave where she will prepare him for his future under the guidance of Will Enzimer. JD, a horse with an abundance of presence will, I am sure, end up a brave and courageous Eventer.

Barney our wonderfully quiet tempered, chubby chap has also made a new home, not far from JD at Cranbourne VIC, It is always rewarding when a horse is sold to a great new home and the person buying tells you of the Many Many horses they have looked at prior to coming to see one of ours! Barney & Rachel are sure to make a great team and have a fantastic time together.

The Magnificent Deputy has headed to NSW to the Woodland Family, we are sure that this pretty and extremely kind horse is destined to become another Grand National qualifier for us in the future and look forward to his Newcomer debut, under the careful guidance of the Woodland Family.

Scorcher, an all time favourite and a horse that I have known for a couple of years has also made a new home in Lewiston SA with Tonia & Darren Scaife, It was lovely to meet Tonia & Darren, I am hopefull that Scorch will be our next Newcomer winner in SA!

Miffy has left for Broughton Vale stock horses in Broken Hill we look forward to News of her saddle career and then no doubt her boodmare career, breeding some lovely stock horse babies for Broughton Vale.

It has also been a good month with news that Karen Shaw of QLD, has qualified for Grand Nationals in her Rider, which was great news, as RS Inspire is such a young horse to have carried her well enough to qualify in her Rider, it is testimony to his nature and the wonderful job Karen has done with him, excellent workI look forward to seeing them together at Melbourne Royal soon.

Brittany Reside WA, has again qualified for the Grand Nationals on Striking, what a wonderful little horse "Sammy" has been for Britt, as this is the 5th time he has carried her to such a qualification! well done both of you.

Perfect by Nature WA, has again qualified for large hack at The Grand Nationals with Caris Reside, this I think is Caris and the big fellows 3rd time to qualify for the Grand Nationals, well done! so all these horses, are all doing there Job, as good horses should!

There has also been great news from Caris & Britt of their new hack the beautiful Falvelon Gelding, pictured in earlier news, He has now been Named "LP Super Star" & made his recent debut Led, winning Supreme Champion TB Exhibit, what a great way to kick off his career.

July 2009

A big month for us on the news front, the lovely unraced 3yo Gelding "Jackson" has made his way to Orange in Central NSW to Sue Roughly, reports on his arrival were all good and Sue was extremely happy with his great looks & just show me the food attitude, we wish them well in the future, and look forward to their news.

It is always nice to be a part of a comeback… We are thrilled that the outstanding moving, rising 3yo, Filly "Pearl" will be heading to Wagga Wagga to a new home with the very experienced hands of Debbie Ethridge. Debbie has been off the scene for two years with illness, but it gives us a great deal of Pleasure to be a part of her comeback. It was lovely to meet Debbie and Daughter Katrina in person, and we will be eagerly awaiting there Newcomer Season with Pearl, who has a very special way of putting her head through a bridle.

News from Paula Mcpherson in SA, that she and "Wanda" went to their first Show horse Clinic this month with Michael Christie, and the sweet filly never put a foot out of place. Paula’s words were I am really Stoked with this Filly she is a real Gem. It is nice to see them getting out and about, enjoying themselves.

Karen Shaw has sent me an update, confirming that she had sent the entries off for Melbourne Royal & yes she has entered the Turnouts with RS Inspire, so I am looking forward to lending a hand, and watching them in the Garryowen. It will be exciting to see them compete in the Big G.

A special thank you this month, must go to Maddison Demmler, Maddy came to stay for the School Holidays, complete with the newly started Hunter Hack, Mare to be Named "Coronation Queen"
Maddy is a real gem, happy to help with anything, good or bad, and it was lovely to have her around, wanting to ride everything in sight! Also nice to help her with early work on the Queen, I can see myself being dragged off to a few shows to help Maddy and the Debut of the Impressive Grey Mare. (Pity I can plait!!!) I have organized Maddy the Ride on "Striking" for her rider class in Perth, at the royal in Sept, so am guessing a plane trip and a week at the Resides is looking imminent, it will be great to catch up over west....and thanks to Britt and Caris for the use of Striking. It will be great to be part of Team WA at the Royal, and look forward to the Debut of The Falvelon Gelding, pictured in our May News, in his Breed classes.

June 2009

"RS Inspire" & Karen Shaw of Redlands Stables, QLD, continue to do well, with a Top Five spot at SHC Rising Stars, Karen emailed and said that Midas had given her a lovely ride and that she was thrilled with his performance. She was also delighted with her win with "Xemplify of Sefton", a weanling colt she purchased from me last year, by Rathowen XL out of a TB Mare to mature Galloway/Small hack.
"Xemplify" (Aka Rexy) was awarded  SHC Youngstock Exhibit Of The Year. I was over the Moon for them, congratulations and well done, to everyone. It is a huge effort with two babies in their own right, to have been so successful and a credit to Karen's dedication, as one young horse is hard, let alone a yearling colt as well!

Two more horses this month will make their way to Dorrigo NSW to team up with the Woodland Family and Northwood Seduction (Seduction was a  R/U newcomer for the Woodlands last season.) A big Chestnut 3yo "Danehill Dancer" filly with lots of Chrome, and a lovely temperament and a very striking Brown 4yo gelding by "Bianconi" with a fantastic way of going. We wish them well in the future.

The lovely "Jeune King Prawn"  2yo filly in the current edition of HDs has made her way to Gunnedah in NSW, to the home of Maree Ellison, Maree and her mum made the big trek down from NSW to see the Filly. It was lovely to meet them both, Maree is currently Pregnant, and her mum will take on the filly's early preparation, hopefully we will see them out and about in hand soon. I must say it was awfully inspiring to see Maree's mum ride the filly, she has suffered through a terrible illness and back injury and hadn't been in the saddle for over 12 months. Not to let this discourage her she hopped on and rode the filly beautifully.

May 2009

Another exciting Month with News from Karen Shaw QLD that RS Inspire (Aka Midas) had Placed in Both his Novice Classes at Sydney & Canberra Royals. Midas, a little Bay horse with the prettiest front and delightful temperament has been with Karen since last July & is very much still a baby. There will be many more good things to come from this partnership in the Future, hopefully a Garryowen appearance by them is not too far away. He holds a special place in my memory, as Karen bought him not long after losing her wonderful & much loved Crown, and named Midas, RS Inspire as he had given her a reason to continue after the terrible loss she & her Family had suffered

Congratulations yet again to the two Flag Bearers in WA! Caris & "Perfect By Nature" Qualifying yet again for Grand Nationals 2010 & Brittany & "Striking"  again Teaming up for another Grand National Rider Qualification.
Guessing the trek will be on again in 2010, I'm only just getting over GN 2009!!
Brittany has had a Big month riding, with, their wonderful, home bred, Pony "Leeara Park First Edition" a newcomer By "Rathowen XL" taking out Ridden Arabian Derivative, HOTY at the Arabian State Titles  and then R/U SHC Newcomer Pony of the Year a fortnight later.
Caris & Brittany purchased a really lovely big bay horse by "Falvelon" from me whilst staying over for the Grand Nationals, He traveled home to the west with "Perfect By Nature" and all reports say that he is doing exceptionally, and will probably make his Debut Led at Perth Royal and do Newcomers in 2010, I really look forward to his Show Career.

Another very pretty big horse by "Orientate" has been purchased from me by Kasey Blacker Tasmania, and has made his home alongside "Creed" a Dual Newcomer winner for Kasey, all reports from Kasey say that "Paris" is eating the house down and is a complete pleasure to ride & handle. Kasey is excited about getting him out and I wish them every success in their career together and look forward to updates along the way.

The beautiful brown filly by Perugino "Darling Wanda" in this mths HDs has made her new home in SA with Paula Mcpherson. Paula & her mum came to see "Wanda" together. They had all sorts of flight hiccups but survived! Paula has decided Wanda will keep her name as it is so fitting that the day she came to visit spent quite some time - due to the rental car GPS - "wandering" around. When Paula and her mum finally set eyes on Wanda it was love at first sight, and this little filly has a very sweet nature.

April 2009

Congratulations to the Reside family and "Perfect By Nature" (Aka Jubes) after the grueling trek all the way from the Swan Valley, WA to Horsley Park, NSW for the Grand Nationals. Jubes made the top 10 Grand National Saddle Horse over 16hh and carried Brittany to Top 10 Grand National Rider 17yrs & under 21yrs. What a wonderful effort in some huge classes including qualifiers from both 2007 & 2008, It gave me great pleasure to be a part of this huge trek from one side of oz to the other. Well done Guys.

The Lovely bay horse "Danny" has been purchased by Stacey Bould, he won them over with his wonderful nature and his way of saying "Ride Me", guessing we will see them around next season for sure.

March 2009

The Lovely Bay filly in this months HDs "Glamourish" has headed to WA to take up Residence with David Jinks, we look forward to her Newcomer season in WA all reports of Glams arrival & settling in have been great, we look forward to their news in the Future.

Congrats also to Brittany Reside and "Striking", who came Runner up in the Leslie Jones Memorial Trophy at Perth Royal, a prestigous event for horses showing the best Thoroughbred qualities. "Striking" has also carried Britt to another Grand National qualifiying performance in her rider class. I wish the Reside family all the best of luck at the Grand Nationals and will personally be there to cheer them on.

Over in SA, Leah Swan and "Platinum" a lovely grey horse who no doubt we will be seeing a lot more of in future, congratulations on your intermediate win and runner up Newcomer of the year at Champion of Champions. Platinum was beautifully presented and ridden by Leanne Donohue.

Fantastic news from Jane Giersch with "Ambitious" who has also qualified for the Grand Nationals and is the second OTT purchased from me to do so. The first being the big flashy chestnut "Next Chapter".

The Woodland family in NSW have also enjoyed newcomer success with the delightful mare "Northwood Seduction" having a great season including Runner up Newcomer at the Pacific Coast Hack Championships.

Congratulations to Kasey Blacker in TAS with her lovely horse "Creed" taking out the EFA Newcomer saddle horse and SHC Newcomer of the Year, a great effort and signs of more to come.
